Reason to Love Yoga: Let Go, Let Flow

I love yoga!

Yoga allows you to tap into your inner power, be present with no distraction, release tension, reduce your cholesterol, blood pressure, sleep better, and correct your posture. Yes – Yoga is a miracle drug.

Our Kimberly Garrison, certified fitness trainer and Health/Wellness contributor at TBNM shows us how to take advantage of the last days of summer with yoga.

I appreciate BNM Kimberly for her simple, results-driven techniques, and wonderful smile to get us through a workout. Thanks, sis!

Will you try yoga before the close of summer? Let me know your thoughts and please share this post with a friend.

*Kimberly Garrison is available for fitness coaching and consultations. Email her at kimberly@kimberlygarrison.com.

Thank you for all the feedback for the “Hot List” … keep it coming.

Here is what I am loving this week…

2) Summer Love and extended date night … need I say more.

3) Nail power with soft bright pastels. Yum!!

4) Yoga. I can’t get over the changes in my body;  sign up for a class and listen to what this brand new mommy says about how her body has changed in 8 months with yoga.

5) Mommy Juice!

Affordable Accessory for the Body and WIN $1000 for being Quiet!

This post was written as part of a compensated campaign through Blogalicious’ bLink

Anthony Williams, Yoga Master

Five years ago, I started my journey with yoga to gain clarity, lose weight and conquer post partum. It has been an amazing working journey and the #1 affordable accessory for the body.

Yoga has allowed me to be silent
– listen to my body, turn off my thoughts and get back to equilibrium.

Recently, I spoke with Anthony Williams, Master Yoga teacher to celebrities (Sting, Trudy Styler, Lil Kim, Tobey Maguire and the late Rick James to name a few).

Williams says, “Everyone who takes yoga is dealing with something and finally decided to give in to the power of being still. When I was at Tufts University in the under-graduate program, the daily exercise to justify myself/race each day as a Black man consumed me, I started to breathe anger and rage. My college professor introduced an opportunity to visit Kenya to study and practice yoga which ultimately saved my life.” Continue reading

Many of us are waiting for the perfect ‘me’ time to take charge of our thoughts and lives. Stop, do it right now! Continue reading

Live Your Bliss Life — Miami Heat, Yoga & Oprah … all on Thursday!

Happy Thursday!

It’s been three straight days of 70 degrees in New York … yummy!

As I prepare to go on the road for work (Atlanta) and history (Chicago – Oprah’s last taping), there is a feeling of excitement in my bones and swag.

Why? My mindset is completely different this time.

Of course, always understanding the B-I-G picture – however, it’s all about new beginnings and fun now.

Here are my random thoughts for today:

Passion.

Did you see the Heat vs. Celtics game last night?

OMG – it was pure adrenaline, heart, strategy, bliss and teamwork. Continue reading

It’s Not The Number, It’s The Sexy

There is nothing like weight loss to spark a spirited discussion on any forum.

I mean weight has been the elephant in the room for many hiring managers, decision makers, entrepreneurs, and, Brand New Mommas.

Let’s stop giving folks excuses not to utilize our services; and, although folks are progressive — well, you can finish the sentence.

It’s no secret that I am on a weight loss/new life/get sexy back challenge and I am pleased to say that several BNM has joined in  (Darisha Miller, Maxxi Williams, Lacey Clarke!, Pam Perry, Eula Young, Authoress McGregor) and I thank you.

Becoming a reinvented brand is no easy fete; and, having an extra twenty pounds doesn’t make the reinvention process any sexier. I would say for any person in the challenge it’s important to filter out all the noise, and listen to your body. I have said it a million times — it’s not a number game – it’s a lifestyle journey.

My yoga teacher said in class today that, “our bodies are ruling us and it’s time for us to be the champion and rule the body.”

Deepness!

Do you know how extra weight can impact us, especially as African Americans?

Diabetes – talk about motivation.

I have heard from many folks that Kettlebells are the new “it” workout.

My birthday is in early March and I am determined to look like a Brand New Me! My true motivation was to get sexy back and secretly had to come out of denial, now that Jennifer Hudson is smaller than me (how the heck did that happen)? Kudos to her – but damn!

What are you doing to get sexy back?
