‘Brand’ Mommy Time: Women are Not Men

Let’s kick off Monday afternoon with some real Mommy time talk.

What are your thoughts on privileged women talking about motherhood, balance and climbing the corporate ladder?

According to Marissa Mayer (Yahoo) and Sherry Sandberg (Facebook), we are selling selves short and can do more to win. True, but not that simple.

It’s real easy to offer advice when you have not walked in most women shoes.

Although I agree that women can have it all, I believe that happens in stages. Something will suffer eventually– perhaps your marriage, children, health, self-esteem or S-E-L-F. I’ve made short-term career sacrifices for the good of my team (family) and that was once a hard pill to swallow.

Women should not have to apologize for wanting to remix the manner in which they work and contribute to society. Women are not built like men and that’s okay.

BNM, what are your thoughts on remixing how we work and play this corporate game?

Summer is officially here. Whether you stayed true to your New Year’s Resolutions, or not, you still have time to get into sizzling shape for that bikini. Here are a few practical tips to get you started.

Write it down!
Some wise person once said that, “failure to plan – is planning to fail.” What you need is a plan. Guess what, it’s starts in the kitchen, baby. Diet is 80% of the equation and exercise is 20%, but you still have to do both. There are no short cuts, and no amount of exercise can replace poor nutrition. So, write it down, you are ten times more likely to reach your goal if you write it down. Continue reading
