Ask The Money Coach: How To Avoid Fraudulent Telephone Call Scams

How To Avoid Fraudulent Telephone Call Scams

by Lynnette Khalfani-Cox, The Money Coach

The FBI Newark Division recently released a warning to consumers about a new scheme that involves telecommunications denial-of-service (TDoS) attacks. The FBI has found that criminals are compromising victim accounts and then contacting financial institutions to change the victim’s profile information. These attacks often result in unauthorized access to consumer financial and brokerage accounts and the criminals may be able to transfer funds out of the financial accounts. Here’s what you need to know about this particular type of scam: [continue reading…]

The Confidence Game: How to Bring Out Your Inner Hotshot

Inner Confidence from Oprah.com

I recently read an interesting article on Oprah.com about how many are AFRAID to bring out their inner superstar. There are times when I take a back seat to allow someone else to shine or keep quiet not to rock the boat. Continue reading

Matriach Katherine Jackson in Danger?

Katherine Jackson (AP wire)

Let’s pray for the Jackson clan.

I read a crazy message that she was kidnapped yesterday — this was simply a rumor.

Once again, there seems to be something in the water at the Jackson compound.

Glad to hear that Ms. Jackson is resting and okay.

SINGLE MOMMAS RE-DEFINED AND SMART: NIA LONG AND KATIE HOLMES

Summer issue of Essence

Motherhood is all about loving and learning self ‘more’ each day as we figure out what works and doesn’t as it relates to marriage, career, family.

Ultimately, the goal is to evolve into ‘brand’ new mommas on our terms.

I admire Nia Long and Katie Holmes for rewriting the rules as smart, single and sexy mommas.

Kudos to all ‘brand’ new mommies redefining motherhood and taking courageous steps!

Inspiring story from NIA LONG’S PRIDE & JOY…

“I’m in my forties, post baby and I’m thinner than I’ve been in years. The last step will be letting my hair go natural. That’s when you’ll know I’m free…”
—NIA LONG

Now Hair This: Getting Comfy with (new) Hair!

I had this hair for over 20 years

Photos for a current project

Let me say that change is not easy — especially when it comes to MY hair since that’s my Achilles heel.

Admission is the first step to recovery!

Recently, I posted a photo on Facebook with me and a client out for drinks and the comments were the following:

Out with Agnes Davis, Swim Swim Swim I Say

Now Hair This!

Honestly, I didn’t recognize self (either) because I’ve yet to push the RESET button in my mind that I’m allowing my hair to grow.

Thanks for the comments – I am bracing all things anew for this season because it feels right. I just bought a flatiron two weeks ago to manipulate my hair straight after a wash, trying all types of products to keep the humidity from my natural roots/stubborn gray.

Any tips to keep the hair healthy and humidity free?

Being in the moment: A Tiger Mom Chills

Sofia on graduation day

I have to admit that I am somewhat of a tiger mom when it comes to my baby.

This is my first time as a parent from conception to delivery – and yes, there are times I simply need to chill, let her have fun, and not shuttle back and forth to enrichment programs.

Sofia graduated from Pre-Kindergarten and delivered the welcome message to the audience and rocked it.

My preemie baby is growing up and I was honored to learn from her that this is simply the beginning.

She can have the next few days off without any reading, Spanish lessons and swimming. Just joking – back to work tomorrow! ☺

Nia Long Talks Rebirth

Nia Long pre-rebirth (Ebony magazine)

Nia Long is simply a bad momma … watch your mouth!

I love the fact that Nia is enjoying motherhood (again) and taking the time to breathe, recalibrate and rebirth on her terms.

Thanks Nia, for the reminder that life is all about precious moments. Continue reading

Never Give Up – May I Share?

Raw image from photo shoot

Raw Photos

A few years ago, I was overweight and depressed.

I started to workout at my neighborhood park but had to walk since the weight was too much on the joints to run. Then came an angel, an older man cheering me on at my neighborhood park.

All he said each time was – “NEVER GIVE UP.”

That has become my mantra – NEVER GIVE UP!! Continue reading
