Yoga allows you to tap into your inner power, be present with no distraction, release tension, reduce your cholesterol, blood pressure, sleep better, and correct your posture. Yes – Yoga is a miracle drug.

Our Kimberly Garrison, certified fitness trainer and Health/Wellness contributor at TBNM shows us how to take advantage of the last days of summer with yoga.

I appreciate BNM Kimberly for her simple, results-driven techniques, and wonderful smile to get us through a workout. Thanks, sis!

The Benefits of Creating a Calendar For Your Sanity

Make The Holidays Stress Free

Ever since I had accepted the job as a mom, I realized that being prepared before the celebratory events was a stress reliever.  I have created a system based on my own “last minute” frustrations that help me stay prepared before the holidays, birthdays, spring breaks and etc.

We already know that Christmas is on Dec. 25th, Thanksgiving is in November, Spring Break is in March, school starts in September or August for some and we know the dates of our children’s birthday. Preparing for these festivities before they get near, help us as Busy Moms stay sane and sound avoiding the shopping rush, sale anxiety and last minute pickings. Continue reading

Heavy D, Smokin’ Joe Frazier, Conrad Murray, The Duggars and Layaway!

It’s been a week of life unpredictability and random thoughts, is it okay if I share my musings thus far?

R.I.P. Dwight Myers aka Heavy D! I met Heavy D when I worked in the entertainment industry and he was always smiling and encouraging.
Heavy D lived his passion — from an entertainer to music executive to actor. He was always inspired!

Stress 101: Dr. Oz says Pay Attention to This Not That ..

BNM, we are living in some challenging times – working harder, however, not enjoying real quality of life.

Recently I read this article on Oprah.com, written by Dr. Oz about what not to ignore when feeling stress and fatigue and thought it was worth sharing.

Like the next person I encounter my share of stress – perhaps, that’s why I DRINK!!! LOL!

On the serious side, make certain you are taking care of self – everything CAN wait, at the end of the day no one really cares. Sorry to tell you!

On Oprah.com, Dr. Oz says, These five pains could be a sign of big trouble.

I once had a patient who checked in to the hospital as she was having a major heart attack. As it turned out, she’d been experiencing intermittent chest pain and nausea for weeks, without realizing that these symptoms can signal impending cardiac crisis.

Everyday aches are a part of life—especially as we age. But before you brush off your symptoms, as so many people do (one survey found that 70 percent of people delayed seeking medical attention for a sharp pain), take note of the five warning signs you should never ignore

My Luna Bar Yoga Experience with a Yogi Master by Wendy Robinson

Wendy and her Yogi Master

Luna Bars 2010 Flavors

Butterfly. Cobra. Warrior. Just some of the many  poses I experienced during a fantabulous yoga session courtesy of LUNA Bar’s (energy bars for women) Yogi Master, Nicole Pemerl.

I was somewhat intimidated by Yoga because of the various intricate positions such Sirsasana (headstand) and a lot more but I prevailed.

Nicole however, imparted upon the class that you meet Yoga were you are. There is no perfection in yoga. Yoga itself means practice and no one will ever be perfect, but as in all things, we can strive for perfection. So the butterflies that held space in my abdomen quickly found their own space.

Nicole’s one-of-kind direction was phenomenal.

For the first time I understood the purpose of yoga and as a result have embraced it as tool to improve my quality of life. During the quick 40-minute session I was able to focus on being in the now by focusing on my breathing and the various poses.

Although a bit challenging, I especially liked the balancing Tree Pose; choosing a target on the wall and focusing on that target while balancing on one leg.  Yoga will be my time to embrace peace and silence.

Thank you LUNA Bar for such an enlightening experience.
