Valerie Harper: Class Act

Rhoda aka Valerie Harper rocked the head wrap back in the day

I still love love the Mary Tyler Moore show and all the spin-offs especially Rhoda.

Remember how fabulously stylish, classy, fearless, driven and funny Rhoda was? She rocked the movement then and now. The reason Rhoda was so authentic is because she was played by Valerie Harper — a truly fearless, driven, stylish, classy fighter and winner. #TeamValerieHarper BNM, has Valerie Harper’s brave outlook inspired you?

Lisa Price of Carol’s Daughter Talks ‘Brand’ Building

Lisa Price of Carol's Daughter

So, how do A-list celebrities and corporations secure that ultimate public relations campaign that has them on everyone’s lips?

First, let’s talk about what public relations entails: fostering public goodwill and creating a favorable opinion for a product, person, or thing. Basically, it attracts consumer attention to a product and is generally a well planned campaign. Public relations is not about creating a one-shot hype campaign, planning a special event, and hosting a party for the media. That’s called publicity. Continue reading

‘Brand’ Mommy Tip: Know your limitations!

Branding Tip!

We all have limitations and the sooner you accept that you cannot do or fix everything it all begins to make sense.

This morning I received a call from a client about a project – while it sounded juicy, I knew deep down that I did not have the skill-set to execute all the deliverables.

I respectfully declined the project.

In a mere matter of seconds, the client called back and asked me what did I feel comfortable tackling as it related to the project?

We spoke about my limitations and agreed upon set deliverables and fee.

Branding is all about giving yourself permission to be authentic and vulnerable all at the same time; trust and believe that you don’t have to do everything well to be an expert.

Remember: A gynecologist can’t deliver a baby and is still called a doctor.

Now Hair This: Getting Comfy with (new) Hair!

I had this hair for over 20 years

Photos for a current project

Let me say that change is not easy — especially when it comes to MY hair since that’s my Achilles heel.

Admission is the first step to recovery!

Recently, I posted a photo on Facebook with me and a client out for drinks and the comments were the following:

Out with Agnes Davis, Swim Swim Swim I Say

Now Hair This!

Honestly, I didn’t recognize self (either) because I’ve yet to push the RESET button in my mind that I’m allowing my hair to grow.

Thanks for the comments – I am bracing all things anew for this season because it feels right. I just bought a flatiron two weeks ago to manipulate my hair straight after a wash, trying all types of products to keep the humidity from my natural roots/stubborn gray.

Any tips to keep the hair healthy and humidity free?

The Benefits of Creating a Calendar For Your Sanity

Make The Holidays Stress Free

Ever since I had accepted the job as a mom, I realized that being prepared before the celebratory events was a stress reliever.  I have created a system based on my own “last minute” frustrations that help me stay prepared before the holidays, birthdays, spring breaks and etc.

We already know that Christmas is on Dec. 25th, Thanksgiving is in November, Spring Break is in March, school starts in September or August for some and we know the dates of our children’s birthday. Preparing for these festivities before they get near, help us as Busy Moms stay sane and sound avoiding the shopping rush, sale anxiety and last minute pickings. Continue reading

Wanda Skykes Talks: Laundry, Diversity, Motherhood and ‘Gainful’ Employment

Wanda Sykes Talks 'Gain'

Gain Your Perfect Match

Comedian/actress Wanda Sykes is 48, a hot renaissance momma, naturalista and now a spokeswoman for the most fragranced laundry detergent and digital host of the Gain Scent Matchmaker Studio.

Sykes recently joked at a recent Gain interactive event held at the Eventi Hotel in NY that she is now “Gainfully employed.” Yes, she is!

“Nothing cements motherhood and being a woman (more) than laundry. The time you spend doing laundry you might as well smell good and find a scent which matches your personality/style,” laughs Wanda Sykes.
