Motherhood can be a very lonely place

Motherhood can be a very lonely place as all your energy is used to take care of your kids. I often wonder how other mothers cope. I know this because this has become my exact problem. Not having any time with my husband, friends and my writing leaves me feeling very frustrated. My boys have both battled more flu and colds than I would like. Taking care of a sick child while you’re sick also is more than a notion. Of course, that means that my husband and I have both sat on the side of the bed and cried for Nyquil to take us away. Yes, I said Nyquil not Calgon. Continue to read Kimberly’s post here.

Fathers suffer with Post Partum issues
Special to The Brand New Mommy, Kimberly Batchelor Davis

The interesting thing about being a mother is that so much attention is given to women. Men have a harder time expressing themselves and/or finding an outlet to release their frustration. You might say this is common knowledge, but my husband after listening to me gripe and moan asked “Do you hear my concerns? Do you understand my frustrations?” I think he was tired of seeing me cry like a little girl. However, to be fair to him he was having his own meltdown. Your Insanity is Power!

Loved this when I saw it on http://finsecwomen.com.au/how-to-follow-your-bliss/

‘Brand’ New Mommy!

Let’s be real – it’s not easy to live your best when reality smacks you in the face each day. Recently, I heard Pastor Miriam Niles, keynote speaker at the Girl Talk Unplugged conference say, “You insanity is your power when you give it a voice to be heard; the feelings you hide are truly what you feel.”

5 WAYS TO STAY MENTALLY HEALTHY (from ‘Brand’ New Mommy book)

•Prayer and Meditation.

•Authenticity. Be you and tell the truth.

•Stop striving for perfection, it’s doesn’t exist.

•Don’t judge. Your scale of excellence is just that, your scale.

•Love your reflection.

•Shut the crap down immediately when it enters your mind. Continue reading

Guest Post: Stuck In the Middle

Inspirational quote by Donna Bell

Stuck In the Middle
By: Kimberly Batchelor Davis

Here I am stuck in the middle of chaos, yet again. My laptop crashed –can you say disaster? Aiden, the baby won’t stop wailing. He just wails. He cries for attention, food, comfort and whatever else his little heart desires. It seems like my oldest, Miles, 4 years old wails, too. Last week literally it was bed time and they both wailed like Harpies. I just sat on the couch and cried. I wanted to walk away, but I couldn’t because I do love my children, but they are driving me up the wall. Everything came to a head because my husband said, “Go Out and have a drink. Don’t come back home.” Continue reading Kimberly’s post at Batchelor Davis and please post a motivational comment here for our ‘brand’ new mommy and contributor.
