How Many Is Enough … ‘Folks’ getting the “procedure?”

Kindred the Family Soul

How many kids do you have? I have two (12 and 4) and they keep me running and let’s not forget the expense.

If you had six children would you suggest to your man/partner/hubby to get a Vasectomy?

My favorite soulful family, Kindred The Family Soul, talks REAL life decisions.

Watch the Dantzler family manage family, career, bills, life, performance, branding, and a vasectomy.

Hmmm… Let me know your thoughts?

Back To School … Back To The Future? By Aja Graydon of Kindred The Family Soul

Parents Just Don't Understand

Number two pencils? Check. Loose-leaf notebook paper? Check. Snazzy backpack? For shizzle. Cell phone? PAUSE.

As a mother of three school age children (three others still in diapers) I knew I would be buried under a mountain of back to school supply lists, uniforms and last minute summer reading reviews but nothing prepared me for the two hour plea from my eleven year old to buy him, dare I say it, a cell phone?.

I have already been deemed the “dino” of the house as I was not on board with the purchase of his game console nor the portable version of it purchased just a year later so it was no surprise to my son that my answer was no. I could not understand.

Why would you need such a thing?

Your lifestyle consists of going to school or being within earshot of me or your father. When would you need it? Regardless of the answer to that question, my answer is still no. As I watched the face get longer and the eyes well up, the whole scene conjured up a vision from the “Parents Just Don’t Understand video where Will Smith’s pretend mom shakes her finger rapping” You go to school to learn, not for a fashion show.” My flashback almost had me feeling his pain until he commits the ultimate begging child faux pas,” Everybody else has one mom!”

Supermom Is Dead … Kindred The Family Soul

Kindred The Family Soul ... Six Deep

Here’s the scenario.

The phone rings. I answer on speakerphone because one of the twins have removed the battery from the handset and lost it. On the other end is Karen Taylor Bass (my former publicist and “brand” new mommy) asking me to write what I am feeling right now for her blog.

So here goes.

Most people know I’ve got six children and my husband and I have built a successful career in the music industry as – Kindred The Family Soul. It’s fair to say I am a blog waiting to happen.

I often find myself walking the tight rope between two worlds of women: work and stay at home mamas. Both ladies have different philosophies and (might) compete with one another (why I don’t know) for some reason or another. Continue reading

Tips to a Sexy Date Night with Spouse/Partner on a Budget by ~ Kindred the Family Soul

Re-post from Kindred the Family Soul

I can’t tell you how many times we have been asked the question, ” How do you make time for intimacy between having six children, home and career?”

Over the years our strategy has been ever changing, however, with a vasectomized hubby and our infant on solid foods, romance is definitely in the air.

In a recent conversation with friend and brandnewmommy.com founder, Karen Taylor Bass, the magic question comes up, “How do you guys do date night?”

HMMMM…This term “date night” was a little foreign to me as it conjured up a vision of a planned evening complete with teenage babysitter, dress clothes, and reservations. These days the closest thing to “planned” that we get is the covert convo between me and the hubs when we recognize an opportunity to meet secretly while the kids are occupied. The artist in me decided not to mourn the absence of this “Cosby-esque” date night format but rather create my own version. Continue reading

Humps And Pumps: Adventures In Dating Your Spouse By Aja Graydon

Date Night Never Looked So Good

I can’t tell you how many times we have been asked the question, ” How do you make time for intimacy between having six children, home and career?”

Over the years our strategy has been ever changing, however with a newly vasectomized hubby and our infant on semi solid foods, romance is definitely in the air.

In a recent conversation with friend, and, The Brand New Mommy founder, Karen Taylor Bass, the magic question comes up, “How do you guys do date night?”

This little personal think tank sparked the memory of a recent “Date” that really left a lasting impression on the hubby and me. I thought it would also be a useful template for my new, personal definition.

Recently we found ourselves in Miami performing for the Blogalicious Conference and made the most of a great opportunity: Continue reading

Nothing like a family that truly tells it like it is.

Check out Season 2, Episode 1 of “Six Is It,” the refreshing and ground breaking show from the first family of soulful music — Kindred The Family Soul.
