BNM,

Brand Independence: How Sweet It Is

Do you remember, when you did and said what you wanted anytime you felt?

I am enjoying a brand new phase of observing my almost 4-year-old march to her beat — a beautiful symphony called independence.

My baby is simply doing her and I am pleased as punch to witness her blossom.

Sofia surprised my husband and I last week when she came downstairs (usually she waits for us to come into her bedroom and play a silly wake-up game).

Well, last week, she was out of bed, used the bathroom and came downstairs and had already picked out her outfit for school.

Who are you, I asked, where is my baby? She said, “I’m getting big momma.”

She said, “I can do stuff all by myself,” and I said, “like what?”

Sofia’s Brand Independence:

1) Dresses self
2) Eat and use big girl fork and plate
3) Uses bathroom and likes her privacy
4) Is a fashionista in the making – wears princess skirt and tiara to the playground
5) Shares her bold thoughts easily

My little girl is discovering her talent and world through her own lens and it’s my job to allow her to know no limitations (society will do that well enough).

Upon watching my little girl, it has empowered mommy to make necessary growth changes, be unapologetic, and, strive for brand independence.

Thanks little momma for inspiring me to take flight.
