BNM: Hot Summer List 2012
Hello Mommas,
I am enjoying each day of this hot, steamy, egg frying weather. How about you?
Thank you for all the feedback for the “Hot List” … keep it coming.
Here is what I am loving this week…
1) Mom/Girlfriends getting together for some much needed jokes, grub and stories. Plan a day to get together with your girlfriends.
2) Summer Love and extended date night … need I say more.
3) Nail power with soft bright pastels. Yum!!
4) Yoga. I can’t get over the changes in my body; sign up for a class and listen to what this brand new mommy says about how her body has changed in 8 months with yoga.
5) Mommy Juice!
Think Like A Man: Tips to Kickoff Monday!
Wow!
Think Like A Man scored at the box office, #1 with $33 million dollars for a sensational opening weekend. Go Steve Harvey!
I enjoyed the movie with an ensemble cast of all my faves, delicious eye candy and good nuggets throughout the movie.
The movie reminded me of key elements to WIN and stay on focus on the ultimate prize. Thanks for the re-enforcement, TLAM. Continue reading
Pam Perry Talks: Finding Mommy Bliss
No one can tell you what’s its like being a parent. No amount of books, tapes, seminars or intimate conversations can prepare you for the major life change that happens after the birth of a child. It’s especially hard for women who have been self-sufficient, self-reliant and independent. After many years of independence and carefree living (other than a job)…BAM…you now have to shift gears and learn the meaning of unselfishness and sacrifice time, energy and money.
Career women are torn between foregoing their ambitions and relinquishing personal dreams, goals and future plans for diapers, daycare and Disney.
Mommy Time: Keeping it Fresh with Rollerskating
I like you, am a proud ‘Brand’ New Mommy. I’m a wife and mother to three children, two boys and one girl. I work a full time job five days a week. I’m a Mocha Mom (www.mochamoms.org) and a LadyDove (http://ladydoves.org); both organizations are not-for-profit organizations that empower their members while giving back to their community. During the week I’m “football mom,” “swim mom,” “track mom” and “can I come over your house and play mom?” Continue reading
Wanna Sip, Nosh and Mingle with Food Network All-Stars?
Wanna Sip, Nosh and Mingle with Food Network All-Stars?
How often do you indulge in date night or a night on the town?
Let me ask again, how often do you really enjoy a grown-up Friday night excursion with partner, girlfriends or self and it’s not in front of the television or in a movie theatre?
Wanna hang out with me this Friday for a night of possibilities and great food/wine all for the cost of less than a pair of Louboutin? Continue reading
Tips to a Sexy Date Night with Spouse/Partner on a Budget by ~ Kindred the Family Soul
Re-post from Kindred the Family Soul
I can’t tell you how many times we have been asked the question, ” How do you make time for intimacy between having six children, home and career?”
Over the years our strategy has been ever changing, however, with a vasectomized hubby and our infant on solid foods, romance is definitely in the air.
In a recent conversation with friend and brandnewmommy.com founder, Karen Taylor Bass, the magic question comes up, “How do you guys do date night?”
HMMMM…This term “date night” was a little foreign to me as it conjured up a vision of a planned evening complete with teenage babysitter, dress clothes, and reservations. These days the closest thing to “planned” that we get is the covert convo between me and the hubs when we recognize an opportunity to meet secretly while the kids are occupied. The artist in me decided not to mourn the absence of this “Cosby-esque” date night format but rather create my own version. Continue reading
Date Yourself/Brand and This Will Happen: I Guarantee
Last weekend, I had the good fortune at presenting at the Blogging While Brown Conference in Los Angeles. It was a fantastic experience!
I presented with my BFF Pam Perry (Social Media guru) and during my module I mentioned the importance of dating yourself/brand in real time … all the time.
Let’s face it … you are your brand. Continue reading
Mr. Popper’s Penguins is Perfectly Pleasant for Father’s Day
Simply Excellent!
My family and I went to an advance screening of Mr. Popper’s Penguins sponsored by the Mocha Moms (I’m a member), Liquid Soul Media and 20th Century Fox.
I’ve always been a fan of vintage Jim Carrey and let me tell you – he is back and funnier and wittier than ever with a message (moms and dads can relate to).
The book, Mr. Popper’s Penguins is a great children’s classic and the movie does a great job following the story with a contemporary remix.
If you are in need of a belly laugh with adorable penguins and a stellar cast, this is the movie for you. No need to hire the babysitter – the dads, kids (under 12), the lover, and girlfriends will absolutely enjoy and love this movie.
Disclaimer:
Beware of the laughter — it’s contagious.
BNM Rating: 5 out 5 – just as yummy as a glass of vino
Humps And Pumps: Adventures In Dating Your Spouse By Aja Graydon
I can’t tell you how many times we have been asked the question, ” How do you make time for intimacy between having six children, home and career?”
Over the years our strategy has been ever changing, however with a newly vasectomized hubby and our infant on semi solid foods, romance is definitely in the air.

The artist in me decided not to mourn the absence of this “Cosby-esque” date night format but rather create my own version.
This little personal think tank sparked the memory of a recent “Date” that really left a lasting impression on the hubby and me. I thought it would also be a useful template for my new, personal definition.
Recently we found ourselves in Miami performing for the Blogalicious Conference and made the most of a great opportunity: Continue reading
