  20. Love your story. Thanks for sharing. Inspiring.

  21. Wow, sis everytime I log on I feel inspired to look up new information. Okay as you now, your niece was recently born and everyone says i don’t even look like I just had a bbay. but after being overweight most of my life and then in 2009 losing fifity pounds. I need to maintain my look. Lol. Seriousy weight means so much. I will share with everyone. Because of my history with Cancer. Then Hypertension. I had a miscarriage and was told by my OB to see a High Risk Pregnancy doctor that she recommened. I make the appointment and see this petite woman who runs tests and says before we focus on you becoming pregnant let us look at your obesity. My thoughts were I am only 182 pounds. She was like exactly your obese for your height you need to focus on losing weight she then recommened me to a doctor in my area to help me lose weight. I cried, I couldn’t even bring myself to call my husband. I shared with a friend. A week later I spoke with my husband and he came with me to the weight loss center. I stayed on the plan and my husband even sneeked a few of my shakes and diet bars. How dear he, he was deemed, “fit” at the weight loss center. Lol. Anyway I paid for the program for three months but the beauty was the doctor gave me homework every week. he changed my mind set towards food the whole diet thing is also mental.. At least it is for me. I am comfortably in my size four jeans again after giving birth 12/29/2010. Without paying for a program or even having time to go the gym. I just consume better and smaller meals, go outside and walk and I wore a “bellyband” after having the bbay. Shh. Lol. But I am still working on my torso, I have that apple shape and I am working on my “FATBACK”. Lol. Anyway I need to be sexy for the walks in the park with Annorah, my daughter.. Lots of Love and good luck to everyone trying to lose weight. Sis you look great. Now I am researching Kettlebells???

  22. What is with me, baby not bbay. Sorry. I need to keep my fingers on “Spellcheck”. lol.

  23. I came across your site from your BE interview with BBraxton…this is a great site! I’ve been going through something myself that is causing me to evaluate how to re-invent myself, your story is truly inspiring. thanks for sharing and I look forward to reading more from you

  24. Natalie, thanks so much for stopping by TBNM. I appreciate the love and yes, reinvention is not easy; take it one moment at a time.

  25. I often check out your blogs and your new adventures because you keep me motivated and always seeking to find and remain in my sweet-spot. I love your new brand and this is really the time to reinvite, reignite and reposition yourself for success. Prayerfully, I’ll get to make one of your events soon. Continue to be blessed as God repositions you for your divine purpose! You are truly a blessing.

  26. Karen-
Congrats on the launch of The Brand New Mommy. Part of your testimony is very familiar…its amazing when God shows you that you are not the only one going through a particular problem. Praising God for the testimony of His healing and blessing power. Continue to embrace life, love and lessons.

  27. Hi Karen,

You are an AWSOME women!!!! Your story is very inspiring, like you I had my son at 37 yrs old gained over 30lbs and for about 3 1/2 years I struggled with trying to juggle my career as a full time analyst and full time wife & new mom. I became very depressed, bitter and angry. I was feeling very guilty for not leaving my job after the birth of son, and angry at my husband because we could not afford for me to do so, finally through pray and faith God answer me and I started a Mary Kay Cosmetics business, even though I am not where I want to be with the business; I remain incouraged daily that God is going to bless this business and it will flourish. In short I look forward to reading your book and getting to know you as one of my new Mocha Mom Sista Girls.

  28. Thank you for taking the time to visit the site and for being authentic. I look forward to building a brand new mommy brand. Blessings!

  29. Karen your story is only proof that “God in Heaven” is our strength and our provider
if we trust him in. Your test is a testimony to others that all things are possible.
I am 55 years old. Daughter grown. I have spent years at Warner Bros. DC Comics
and later shifted over to do PR for Warner Bros films in New York…after layoffs
and somehow ended up in the Renewable Energy Finance area for four + yeas,
I am trying to reinvent myself back into PR for movies, by volunteering my skills
and keeping fresh in the industry news. I am finishing a book titled SistahKnit.
I don’t want to sit behind a desk and make already wealthy people become more
wealthy. I tell myself each day ” I am God’s child created in his image” and I will
succeed and do great things. It feels good to say it and believe it. Now I feel a
bigger and better change is coming. Thank you Sistah Karen for sharing and to all the
ladies that shared their stories. We are all better together. Let’s keep each other lifted up in “Prayer.” With out the Lord, we are nothing.

  30. Hi Karen,
