I love the story of Gabby Douglas and her mom, Natalie Hawkins. You?
This a real story of guts and what it takes to live your dream: family, courage, strength, faith, sacrifice, love, trust and goal setting is what makes this amazing duo and history making team so special.
Natalie Hawkins said, “I told Gabby that she came this far and had to fight and refuse to quit.” Wow!
BNM, stay in the game and claim the victory today!
PS: Haters, really?

This was on the greatest moments in history for this mom and daughter. I’m sorry to even have to bring up the hair situation but are you kidding me! I’m not an Olympian and I can’t find the time to straighten my roots and I don’t have extension so my hair texture “doesn’t match” even though it is all mine. Why I can’t find the time, you my ask? Let’s see – I work a full time job, go to the gym 6 days a week, swim some of the days also, teach swimming on the weekends and run a company. If her hair is the only way she represented black women, that is a sad way we look at each other. She has achieved a gold medal that several other African-American before her did not accomplish. Let’s focus on how this African- American family sacrificed everything so one of her children could make her dream come true. So many look at our community and see the negative, lets keep it all positive.
Agnes, you are so RIGHT on this and it’s a shame we are even discussing hair at this critical point in history. Rock on momma!!
