Maximize One Hour with Child at Home

How do you get the most out of one hour with your kids at home?

BNM, it’s not easy to master productivity at one’s home/office and simultaneously provide entertainment for child as you run a business.

Recently, I was speaking with a BNM, and we discussed the trick to keeping children engaged is to use a timer while working and allowing the child to be a part of the process.

I’ve discovered that playing the timer game and setting it for one hour will help one stay mentally sharp and keep a smile on a child’s face.

Tell your child that when the timer goes off mommy will stop working, shut off the computer and will do something fun. During the time the timer is on have your child do a project/school work to keep them engaged and understand work and reward.

Can you get all your work done in an hour?

No, you can’t, however, if you do (3) one- hour intervals and organize tasks you can accomplish a lot and have a happy child and a sane momma.

Tips to Maximizing One Hour:
1) Start early. Get up and work out and clear the brain
2) Prioritize. What do you really need to accomplish today; attack the list with priority
3) Schedule Social Media. Plan your tweets in advance to shave time and be effective. Tip: Sprout Social (30 days free trial)
4) Take a break. When the timer goes off, keep your promise and power off.

  1. Ha, thanks for sharing. I was wondering how you did it & was actually gonna call you for tips. My 4-yr old bundle of joy is a constant BURST of energy and trying to multitask is a challenge for me.

  2. Peaches, how are you? No – it’s not easy working and attempting to keep children in engaged — just do the best with what you have and it will be just fine. There are times when I put off work until the night and the house is quiet. Every solution is different. Enjoy your moments!
