It’s been fantastic leaving my nest and socializing in the big cities (Chicago for Oprah’s Farewell taping) and Atlanta for the 16th Annual Black Enterprise Entrepreneurial Conference.
>Deals are done when you leave your house – I forgot that just going to Manhattan is simply not good enough.
Let me say that this post is so random with thoughts — please accept my apology.
Gil Scott Heron:
His voice and words was my soundtrack in college. Gil and The Last Poets truly empowered me to read more Black Literature, converse and celebrate different cultures, be uber proud to be Black and most importantly get off my ample ass and march against Apartheid and Citibank to divest in Sun City (1989) and speak louder when I felt invisible and desperately wanted to be ‘visible.’ I thank you, my proud, smart, gifted, and passionate brother for influencing my life.
Simply fantastic! I learned so much for the past 25 years and just having (Oprah) as a virtual mentor to see what truly happens when you dream gargantuan, believe in God and love your authentic self is priceless. As I sat in the audience for four hours for the final taping all I was doing was taking notes on how to embrace each moment and be ready for my opportunity on the national stage.
Black Enterprise 16th Annual Entrepreneurial Conference:

All I can say is amazing and more amazing.

The entrepreneurs were serious about networking and closing deals. My sister from another mother – Pam Perry is my rock, cheerleader, stylist, and mommy-friend. She gets me and empowers me to come out of my comfort zone. We celebrated her 51st birthday from the moment we landed and simply embraced the power of possibilities.
Pam documented everything in REAL TIME via social media and proved each nano-second why she is the Social Media Evangelist.
I can’t forget all the amazing folks I met and (some) I reconnected with: James Andrews, Melinda ‘Small Biz Lady’ Emerson, Maisha Walker, LaShanda Henry, Marshawn Evans, Lamar Tyler, Marvet Britto, Jai Stone, Cavaughn Noel,m Meagan Butler, Patricia Waldon, Stephanie M. Clark, Tiffaney Dale, Lawrence Ingraham, Carla Baker, Aisha Jefferson, Aliyyah Baker, The Baby Billionaire, Gigare’, LT Thomas (Blue Soda Cake), DryerBuzz, Jewel’sFabLife.com (girl, you are doing it) and so many more.
Thanks to Black Enterprise for inviting me to facilitate the Speed Networking event – I am so proud to be a part of the family.
The conference is in Chicago next year, please start saving your money now to attend if you are ready to take your business and brand to an exceptional level.

Thanks for the update, I missed your post. Glad you are back.
It was wonderful to meet you as well and I definitely look forward to working together in the future.
I JUST posted a comment on Facebook about Pam’s coverage of the BE Conference! Since I’m here in Atlanta, I was really disappointed that I couldn’t attend the confernce. But between the live streaming, and Pam’s coverage on FB, I almost felt like I was there!
