Happy Monday!
As I move and groove in this journey called life, there are times I forget to celebrate my journey of reinvention.
Always keeping my eyes on the destination is great — but not cherishing the moment — well, not very sexy.
Have you (also) forgotten about your milestone because you want to get to the finish line?
Recently, I re-learned that being still, inhaling, exhaling, being giddy, and celebrating could actually bolster a moment.
Why do we forget about OUR personal brand/person-hood and celebrate our kids every performance? When will we put self first?
And, if you don’t have kids – I am certain you celebrate your family and girlfriends accomplishments before you shake your booty and do the happy dance for your “moment.”
My husband showed me the recent issue of Black Enterprise, and there I was on page 6 sharing the spotlight with Jay-Z … word? He said, “didn’t you know about it?”
All I can say was, “Yes,” the producer of ‘Brand New You,” did ask me for a photo a month ago.
Then I got an email from Joey, a colleague, offering me big-ups. Damn – did I miss a moment? Yes. Not to mention, Pam Perry, posting the photo of Facebook.
To add insult to injury – my Facebook friend, Todd Walker, sent me a photo of me in the current Uptown magazine and I didn’t even know I was in there AND I have a subscription.
You know what? It’s time for this “expert,” to slow down, pour a glass of vino, say a thank you prayer, pat self on back, and celebrate my reinvention and acknowledgement in Black Enterprise and Uptown respectively.
Let’s never forget to celebrate our passion, power, and reinvention. As I write to you, I am enjoying a glass of champagne in the afternoon.
Cheers to you!

You rock!!! Congrats and many more.
Congratulations, Karen, on getting great press coverage and for you slowing down to celebrate those wonderful accomplishments. Yay for Karen!
