Branding while on Bed Rest
Three out of four pregnant Black women will have a challenging pregnancy
At 40, God blessed me with a baby and an unpredictable pregnancy. I was diagnosed with Placenta previa, 7.5 months into my pregnancy, which caused me to be hospitalized and on bed rest for 6 weeks.
Nearly 1 million women in the United States are put on bed rest each year due to pregnancy complications, which can result in preterm birth.
How do you stay sane, sharp, and empower yourself and your unborn child without getting a little frustrated?
My mission was to reinvent while on bed rest and create a positive experience for my child with bold thoughts. I resigned from my high profile PR job and decided to take the diagnosis of bed rest as a time to become ‘brand new.’
Taylor Bass’ Branding Tips while on bed rest:
1) Create Your Vision. Start with a vision board (get a large mounting board, cut out all the photos/magazines and begin to create the life you crave) – She created a board with images of a safe delivery, healthy baby, living her passion as a speaker, host, financial wealth, loving relationships, affirming words – sky’s the limit, living healthy and looked at these words everyday as she closed her eyes and rub tummy.
2) Girls Day In – Plan a weekly pajama party in bed with your best girls and have them bring the food, fashion and latest gossip.
3) Go Diva! – Schedule a standing appointment with your nail technician to do a home visit for Mani/Pedi.
4) Write your book. You have all these ideas now put them to paper and channel that inner novelist.
5) Tweet to stay sane. Create your brand and share your thoughts with the universe on everything from the latest music to baby names.
6) Get rest. A brand-new you and life is right around the corner – get the sleep now.

This blog was so wonderful! I had to ask myself where were you 4yrs ago when I was hanging upside down in TBerg @ northshore manhasset trying to prevent early labor. I loved the idea of the pajama party.
Having a baby is so wonderfully stressful. So thank goodness you are sending words of encouragement to moms to be. Even those who aren’t expecting, will now see how they can help to brighten a sometimes gloomy day for another woman.
I noticed your website from http://www.blackenterprise.com and appreciate learning about your journey as a mother and as a professional. I didn’t realize complicated pregnancies were so common – even though I know of different women who had complications. I wonder why three out of four African American women have a challenging pregnancy.
